Youth batting gloves need to fit small hands, hold up to a season of practice and games, and not cost more than the kid will outgrow. This guide covers youth batting gloves from Bruce Bolt, EvoShield and Franklin for t-ball, Little League and travel ball, plus how youth sizes work. Last updated October 2026.

EvoShield says the Youth Carbyne is built for young baseball and softball players. It has a Cabretta leather palm for feel and grip, leather reinforcements for durability and Lycra gussets so the hand can flex through the swing. It is sold in youth XS through youth L.

Youth Batting Glove Sizes

Each brand lists its youth sizes a little differently. These are the size ranges for the gloves above, from each brand's product page:

  • EvoShield: YXS to YL (Youth Carbyne and Youth Carbyne with Strap); YS to YL (SRZ-1 Youth).
  • Bruce Bolt: YXXS, YXS, YS, YM, YL and YXL (Bear Series); YS to YXL (Original Series). Adult sizes start at S.
  • Franklin: check the size chart on Franklin's product page. The Grow to Pro and Teeball Flex are made for the youngest players.
  • Check the fit: the glove should be snug, with no extra material at the fingertips and no bunching in the palm. If your child is between sizes, try both on if you can. A glove that is too big slips and rubs.

Youth Batting Gloves FAQ

What are the best youth batting gloves? For most youth players, the EvoShield Youth Carbyne is a good place to start. For a premium leather glove, try the Bruce Bolt Bear Series. For t-ball, try the Franklin Grow to Pro Teeball gloves.

Do kids need batting gloves? No, but many kids like them. Batting gloves help with grip, sweat and blisters, and young hitters may also like them for sting on cold days.

Do t-ball players wear batting gloves? Some do. Gloves made for t-ball, like the Franklin Grow to Pro and Teeball Flex, are sized for the youngest players.

Are expensive youth batting gloves worth it? Not always. A lower priced glove like the EvoShield SRZ-1 Youth or the Franklin Powerstrap is enough for younger players who grow fast. Hitters who swing a lot in travel ball may get more out of a leather glove.

Are there youth batting gloves that reduce sting? Yes. Look for padding in the palm. See our guide to padded batting gloves for picks that help with sting.
