A junior big barrel, or JBB, is a short, light USSSA bat with a 2 3/4 inch barrel built for the youngest travel ball players. Think ages 6 to 9, swinging 25 to 28 inch bats. The bigger barrel gives small hitters more room to make contact. Here are the best junior big barrel bats for 2027. Last updated October 2026.

Sizing a junior big barrel
Most 6 and 7-year-olds fit 24 to 26 inches, and 8 and 9-year-olds fit 26 to 28 inches. If the barrel drops when he holds it straight out, go shorter or lighter. Kids grow fast at this age, so don't buy two inches long hoping he grows into it.
How we picked: we only included current USSSA junior big barrels that JustBats shows in stock, with specs from the manufacturers' pages. We did not hit with these bats.
