The 2027 Rawlings Icon and 2027 Easton Hype Fire are close matches. Both are two-piece composite bats, both come in BBCOR, USA and USSSA, and both makers list them at the same price within each stamp. The clearest difference is swing weight. Rawlings lists the Icon BBCOR as balanced and the Icon USSSA as balanced with a slight end load, while Easton lists the Hype Fire BBCOR and USA as a light swing weight and the USSSA as balanced.
In USSSA, if your hitter wants a little more mass behind the ball, look at the Icon. If he's fighting to get the barrel around on time, look at the Hype Fire.
Icon vs Hype Fire at a glance
- Barrel: Icon uses In/Tense Carbon Composite in all three stamps. Hype Fire uses Easton's TCT composite barrel in BBCOR and USSSA and a 3D Ropecoil composite barrel in USA.
- Connection: Icon uses Zero Loss Technology, a TPU collar Rawlings says it strengthened for 2027 for more durability and handle stiffness. Hype Fire uses ConneXion Max, an elastomer connector meant to cut vibration.
- Handle and knob: Hype Fire has an Opti-Flex handle tuned by bat size and Easton's Gen2 soft knob with a Flow+Tack grip. Icon uses RevGrip.
- Warranty: both list one year.

Both are -3 with a 2 5/8-inch barrel. Easton lists the Hype Fire BBCOR in 30 to 34 inches, and Rawlings lists the Icon BBCOR in 31 to 34. That 30-inch Hype Fire matters for a smaller freshman making the jump to BBCOR.
Rawlings also makes the Icon The Chosen One in BBCOR only. It uses the same In/Tense composite on a one-piece frame, which Rawlings says feels slightly stiffer. If your player wants the Icon barrel in a one-piece, that's the one.

Both have a 2 5/8-inch barrel and a USA Baseball stamp. Hype Fire USA comes in -11, -10, -8 and -5. Icon USA comes in -12, -10, -8 and -5, so the Icon has the lightest option of the two for the smallest hitters. Hype Fire USA swaps in the 3D Ropecoil barrel, which Easton says wraps composite rope 360 degrees around the sweet spot to widen the max performance area.

Both are 2 3/4-inch barrels with the USSSA stamp, both in -10, -8 and -5, and both listed from 27 to 32 inches. Easton calls the Hype Fire USSSA balanced. Rawlings calls the Icon USSSA balanced with a slight end load. On paper that's a small gap, so let your player swing both in the exact size you'd buy.

Thermo Composite Technology (TCT) expands the sweet spot for maximum pop, and the Connexion Max elastomer connector joins barrel and handle to cut vibration and sting. Icon vs Hype Fire drop 10
Both bats come in -10 in USA and USSSA, so the stamp decides it, not the brand. Check whether your league needs the USA Baseball stamp or allows USSSA 1.15 BPF. A bat without the stamp your league requires just sits in the bag.
If both are legal, the Hype Fire's balanced USSSA feel is the easier swing for a smaller kid. A stronger kid who's ready for a touch more barrel can handle the Icon.
Supra vs Hype Fire
Louisville Slugger's 2027 Supra USSSA is the other bat in this conversation. Like the Hype Fire USSSA, it's two-piece composite, balanced, with a 2 3/4-inch barrel in -10, -8 and -5. Supra uses an APX composite barrel that Louisville Slugger says compresses and then flexes on contact, an XPND end cap that pushes the sweet spot toward the end of the barrel, a VCX3 connection to cut sting, and a Pro Design knob taper. Supra -10 is listed from 27 to 31 inches.
Spec for spec, Supra vs Hype Fire is close. Swing both if you can and go with the one your hitter trusts.

The 2027 Louisville Slugger Supra USSSA is a two-piece composite bat with a balanced swing feel and a 2 3/4-inch barrel. The APX Composite barrel compresses and flexes on impact to drive the ball deeper, and the XPND Performance End Cap boosts performance toward the end of the barrel. The VCX3 Vibration Control Connection System filters sting, and a Pro Design Knob Taper adds comfort and leverage. Available in -10, -8 and -5 drops, lengths 27-32 in, in Teal, Pink and Yellow. USSSA 1.15 BPF certified with a 12-month manufacturer's warranty.
Which one should you buy?
Start with the stamp your league requires, then the length and drop. Between these two, the Hype Fire fits a hitter who wants the lightest feel and the Icon fits one who wants a bit more barrel. And if he's 10, he doesn't need the newest model year. A 2026 version in the right size does the same job.
