The Marucci CATX Rckless and the Rawlings Icon line up differently depending on the stamp. In BBCOR, the 2027 Marucci Rckless BBCOR, the current BBCOR model in the CATX Rckless line, is a one-piece AZR alloy bat and the 2027 Icon is a two-piece composite, so that's an alloy vs composite decision. In USA and USSSA, you'd compare the CATX Rckless Comp, Marucci's two-piece composite, with the Icon, and the gap gets a lot smaller.
CATX Rckless vs Icon at a glance

This is the one where the choice really matters. A one-piece alloy like the CATX Rckless is ready to hit right away and gives a stiff, direct feel, and you'll feel more of a ball off the end. A two-piece composite like the Icon is built to take sting out of mishits. Composites also usually want a break-in period, so check the maker's break-in guidance before game day.
Both are -3 with a 2 5/8-inch barrel. Marucci lists the CATX Rckless BBCOR from 30 to 34 inches, including a 33.5. Rawlings lists the Icon BBCOR from 31 to 34. A smaller freshman who needs a 30 has the Marucci option.

Both are composite USA Baseball bats with a 2 5/8-inch barrel. The Icon USA comes in -12, -10, -8 and -5 from 27 to 32 inches. Which one should you buy?
Start with the stamp. In BBCOR, decide alloy or composite first, then compare models. In USA and USSSA, both are premium composites and either one is plenty of bat for a travel player.
